Summer Week On Clay Set For Sept. 10 – 13 In Downtown Jeannette
City offers four days of community events as summer 2026 comes to a close
Jeannette, PA, (Aug. 31, 2026) — The Jeannette Initiative, Jeannette Business Association and downtown business owners welcome the community to a Summer Week on Clay set for Sept. 10 through Sept. 13.
As summer 2026 winds down, the Jeannette Initiative, JBA and local business owners have joined forces to offer a series of events to get everyone outside for a little fun in the downtown business district.
“The City of Jeannette always has something going on, and we’re excited to offer our community four days of fun events that we can all enjoy together,” said Kristie Linden, Jeannette Initiative program manager. “You Are Here’s art exhibition opening Sept. 12, the same day as the Glass City Heritage Festival, is wonderful. To be able to showcase our city’s artistic nature and rich history in so many ways over just a few days really gives people a chance to see everything we have to offer here.”
On Thursday, Sept. 10, the Jeannette Initiative and JBA offer the second-to-last Jeannette Food Trucks and Concert Series event of 2026 featuring Brothers Kelly. Food trucks and vendors will line Clay Avenue at the intersection with Fifth Street by 5 p.m. and Brothers Kelly, who plays acoustic renditions of well-known songs across several popular genres, will hit the stage from 6 to 8 p.m.
On Friday, Sept. 11, Peinetti's Bakery owner Jennifer Toughlian has organized a free art walk from 4 to 8 p.m. throughout the City of Jeannette. It will include live art performances, interactive masterpiece displays, ceramic art demonstrations, live music, tarot card readings, food, entertainment and activities at local businesses.
Participating artists and businesses include AB Ceramics studio, sidewalk chalk artist Jesse Hassinger, JI Sage drawing and painting, live music by Marty Zundel and Gary Stewart, Static Station will spin records, Famous Faces by Jeffrey Carroll at the Vine, Eclectic Art at Sforno on Fourth Street, live music and food trucks at Sobel’s Obscure Brewery.
On Saturday, Sept. 12, the Jeannette Initiative and JBA have teamed up to present the 2026 Glass City Heritage Festival. The event begins at 11 a.m. and will be held in the 500 and 600 blocks of Clay Avenue. This free event runs through 4 p.m.
There will be plenty for children to do, including face painting, balloon animals, pumpkin painting, Jeannette Public Library will offer a story hour and there will be sidewalk chalk for children to decorate several areas of Clay Avenue. Mosaic Community Development Center will offer children’s games.
Holy Trinity, Charter Oak and First Presbyterian churches will offer prepared foods. Kastner’s Café and Catering will be there along with Kona Ice and an empanada stand.
There will be a glass-blowing artist on hand to demonstrate some of what built Jeannette as the Glass City.
The Knights of Columbus will offer a coat giveaway, there will be live music by The Fun Hous3, Jeannette Police Department will offer a K9 Demonstration, Caricatures by Ray will be ready to draw and AB
Ceramics will demonstrate their artistic work. DJ Dan “Coop” Cooper will emcee the event; Sobel’s Obscure Brewery and The Vine will also participate.
The Jeannette Area Historical Society will act as the Glass City Heritage Festival’s welcome center and will co-host an art exhibition.
Starting at 10 a.m. that day, You Are Here Gallery at 406 Clay Ave. will open its art exhibition “Jeannette Revival: Not the Same Place” with a reception at its gallery. The exhibition runs through Oct. 24.
You Are Here has partnered with the Jeannette Area Historical Society to present a showcase of art by area artists depicting, through a historical lens, the rebirth that is happening in Jeannette.
Participating artists include Erin Waller, Steve Parsons, Pamela Cooper, Don Wentworth, Scott Silsbe, Dennis C. Lee, Mimi Jong, Dawn Wallhausen, and members of the Pittsburgh Urban Sketchers. Art works include photography, painting, poetry, music and glass.
The exhibition will open at You Are Here and at the Jeannette Area Historical Society, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. during the Glass City Heritage Festival, followed by a reception at You Are Here until 6 p.m.
“Jeannette Revival” is partially funded through a partnership with Rivers of Steel Heritage Corporation and by a grant from the Westmoreland County Department of Parks and Recreation.
At 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, Jeannette American Legion Post 344 will offer line dancing. Cost is $10 at the door.
On Sunday, Sept. 13, enjoy the “Coffee and Cruise on Clay” in the 500 and 600 block of Clay Avenue from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be a car cruise throughout the downtown area and interactive masterpiece displays will remain up throughout the weekend. Gary Stewart will perform live music from 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by the Mello D’s, who will perform until noon.
At 1 p.m. Sunday, the Jeannette American Legion will host a Super Bingo. Cost is $25 per player at the door.
The Jeannette Initiative and JBA have another bit of good news — the Brothers Kelly show on Sept. 10 will not be the end of this year’s Food Trucks and Concert Series! Due to the smoke that settled in our area following the Canadian wildfires this summer, the show featuring “My Own Worst 90s Band” has been rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m.
